Maldives Partnership Forum concludes successfully

The Maldives Partnership Forum 2019, held in Kurumba Maldives, concluded successfully today.

Day Two began with the fourth plenary session, “Building Robust Institutions: Addressing Governance and Justice”. A presentation was delivered by Uza. Maziya Abdul Sattar, State Attorney at the Attorney General’s Office, which focused on the key policy interventions and proposed projects. Following this, a side event titled “Doing Business in the Maldives” was held. Mr Eezan Shahul Hameed, Consultant, Trade and Investment, at the Ministry of Economic Development delivered a presentation on the foreign investment climate of the Maldives. A number of private sector participants were present for this event. The fifth and final plenary session was on “Partnering with the Private Sector for Development”. A presentation was delivered by His Excellency Ali Waheed, Minister of Tourism, and Soneva Fushi which presented a success story of private sector collaboration.

During the concluding session, remarks were delivered by the co-hosts of the Forum, His Excellency Ibrahim Ameer, Minister of Finance, and His Excellency Abdulla Shahid, Minister of Foreign Affairs. Both ministers summed up the substantive discussions that took place over the two days and thanked the delegates for participating in the Forum. Minister Shahid and Minister Ameer then held a press conference and took questions from the press.

A total of 135 participants from 62 delegations attended and 113 bilateral meetings took place on the sidelines of the Forum. 70 projects on the thematic areas were submitted to the Forum by various government institutions and 8 agreements were signed.

His Excellency Ali Waheed, Minister of Tourism, will host a reception to mark the end of the Maldives Partnership Forum 2019.
