Minister Asim sends condolence message to Japanese Foreign Minister

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives, H.E Dr. Mohamed Asim has sent a message of condolence to H.E. Mr. Taro Kono, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan following the torrential rain, deluges and landslides in Japan.

The Minister’s message reads as follows:

“I am deeply saddened to learn the news of the tragic loss of lives and extensive damage to property and infrastructure caused by the torrential rain, flooding and landslides across Western areas of Japan.
At this time of tragedy, on behalf of the Government and the people of Maldives and that of my own, I wish to extend deepest sympathies and condolences to Your Excellency, the Government and the friendly people of Japan.
I hope that the rescue and recovery operations continue smoothly and pray for strength and fortitude for the Japanese people at this tragic time.”
