PRESIDENT SENDS MESSAGE OF CONDOLENCE TO THE PRIME MINISTER OF JAPAN

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has sent a message of condolence to the Prime Minister of Japan, His Excellency Shinzo Abe, following the loss of lives and damage caused by the recent torrential rain flooding and landslides in Japan. 

The President’s message reads as follows:

“I am deeply saddened to learn the news of the tragic loss of lives and extensive damage to property and infrastructure caused by the torrential rain, flooding and landslides across western and central parts of Japan. I would like to extend my sincere condolences to Your Excellency, the Government and the friendly people of Japan.
In this time of great grievance, let me assure Your Excellency our continuous support to the Government and the people of Japan, as a close bilateral partner and friend. I hope that the rescue and recovery operations continue smoothly and I pray for strength and fortitude for the Japanese people at this tragic time.
Please also convey, Excellency, my sincere condolences to the members of the bereaved families.”
